When Black Orchid launched in 2006, it changed what a mainstream fragrance could be. Perfumers David Apel and Pierre Negrin built something genuinely strange for its time: a dark, mushroomy floral that opens with black truffle and blackcurrant, moves through ylang-ylang and the imagined scent of a black orchid, then settles into dark chocolate, patchouli, incense and vanilla. Nearly two decades on, it's still one of the most recognisable scents in the world, and one of the most requested when people come to us looking for a black orchid perfume dupe done properly.
